Kira's second full week in Japan we started uping our game.
On Monday morning we went to the H&HS change of command in which Nick was a platoon commander.
Tuesday afternoon we ventured to Hachigamine Park in Waki. Somehow I had only just heard about this park. There were horses, this peacock, several cages of rabbits, a cage of monkeys, and a really, really cool roller slide!!
We took an old-looking trolley up the hill to get to the top of the slide.
^The top of the slide
The slide went all the way down to the hill, ending by those steps between the red and green bushes.
Hachigamine also had tennis courts, a driving range, mini golf course, flower garden, ferris wheel, and mini train ride. A lot of it was closed though since it was just a weekday.
It looked like we had just missed the rose blossoms as most of them in the garden were dead but we did see a few still in bloom.
Best ever ad ever.
When we went to return our mats from the slide there was a box of free kittens! We had to give a few snuggles.
Wednesday afternoon we drove to Yanaii- another check off my bucket list!
Old Fashioned Soy Sauce Factory and Museum
Brewing soy sauce
I made a paper goldfish lantern!
This was a music box.
After exploring the old town, we crossed under the railroad tracks and went to Mr Max where we played the Taiko drum game (my favorite!), did a photo booth (a must), and found a new flavor of KitKat!
Thursday evening was my end of the year work party and Friday Kira came to teach my English lesson with me.
Violet with one of my students, Ayako.
Saturday we went on a tour from base a local farm community and planted rice.
